USS Becuna (SS-319) DANFS
The Becuna, a Balao-class fleet submarine, was commissioned in 1944 and made several war patrols in the Pacific, sinking at least two Japanese tankers. After the war, the Becuna was converted to a Guppy submarine and served the Atlantic fleet in several roles, including trailing Soviet submarines. She was decommissioned in 1969 and is in excellent condition today. The Becuna is your first stop when touring the ships of Independence Seaport.
